New Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo DS

I am pleased to say that I am at last coming round to a Nintendo way of thinking.  I have never had much time for their under-powered hardware or the style of their games but recently that has begun to change.

I have not been playing much on the PS3 lately and am yet to buy a new gen console but I have played Mario Party 8 on the Wii and now New Super Mario Bros. on the DS and have been hooked.

At last, after many attempts, I have completed the first tower in World 6.  I really thought I might never do it but now I'm past that hurdle I feel as if I might be able to push on to the end.  I don't even care that I didn't get any of the coins.  I've not unlocked worlds 4 or 7 yet but I feel pretty confident that that will happen.  My main worry is that I've just finished that terrible tower with only one life.  Hopefully there will be a green mushroom somewhere on the map where I can get some 1-ups.

The situation just prior to clearing the facade in question.
Perhaps all but the most exceptional brains can only accommodate gaming in one style or another at a time.  I would find it hard to play only on Nintendo on one day and only on PlayStation the next and continue with that routine.  Even Xbox and PlayStation seem different enough in the style of the machine and the style of their respective exclusive games that it would be hard to switch constantly between the two.  I have to admit that I have never owned an Xbox so this is not a very well developed theory.

Back to Mario, and I think the excellence of the game lies in the length and challenge of the levels, only one or two of which have seemed not quite of the quality of the others and, although the hard levels sometimes drive me up the wall, I've always got to admit on reflection that those one or to poorer quality ones have fallen down at least partly by being too easy.  I would like to apologise for the length of the last sentence.

I'll try playing something on PS3 in the near future and see if my brain can cope with it.  If it can, I'll write something about it soon.
